About The Position

Special Kids offers professional services to children ages birth through 21 years. Our treatment range encompasses children who need a little extra help, to children who are medically fragile, and to all sorts of diagnoses in between. Occupational Therapists at Special Kids have opportunities for team collaboration as well as collaboration with other disciplines, including, physical therapy and speech therapy. Pediatric Occupational Therapists at Special Kids have access to engaging therapy materials and testing instruments. Requirements

• Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy with related experience and/or training.
• Active and unencumbered Tennessee State OT License required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with skills testing required.
• Membership in AOTA recommended.
• HIPAA certification encouraged.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications such as electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Administers comprehensive assessments to evaluate physical, cognitive, sensory processing and/or feeding abilities.
• Gains a comprehensive understanding of the patient's medical history, strengths, and areas for improvement.
• Conducts, scores, and analyzes evaluation and observation reports to create and modify personalized treatment plans.
• Tailors treatment plans to the patient’s unique needs, focusing on achieving their individual goals.
• Adjust interventions to accommodate changes in the patient’s physical, cognitive, and sensory processing abilities.
• Supports patients in their school and daily living activities by providing necessary modifications to help them succeed.
• Educates caregivers and patients on effective self-management strategies and techniques.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate and ensure cohesive, comprehensive care.
• Maintains precise and up-to-date documentation of treatment plans, daily progress notes, evaluations, progress reports, and reevaluations within electronic medical records.
• Manages professional licensure, continuing education, and CPR certification to uphold best practices and stay current with evidence-based advancements.
• Attends meetings, conferences, and participates in various activities to foster continuous professional development.
