The emergency department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with board certified physicians and advanced level practitioners who are well-trained to treat emergency needs. MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is certified as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Registered Occupational Therapist. As a Registered Occupational Therapist at MercyOne, you will plan, administer, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy for all appropriate programs and services within the PM&R department, for all patient age groups. Possesses the skills necessary to provide direct patient care specific to each age group in accordance with department protocol. The age of the patients served range in age from infants to geriatrics.

Requirements

  • Registration through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NCBOT).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) by the State of Iowa to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Ability to function as an occupational therapist in all commonly practiced aspects of patient evaluation and treatment appropriate for the assigned age group.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, administer, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy for all appropriate programs and services within the PM&R department.
  • Provide direct patient care specific to each age group in accordance with department protocol.
  • Give clear instructions to individuals and groups ranging from infant to geriatric.
  • Plan day-to-day activities and work independently.
  • Put patients at ease and make them comfortable.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and effectively work with other hospital employees and guests.
