About The Position

The Occupational Therapist position is focused on providing acute care and hospital physical rehabilitation services on a per diem basis. The role is located in Arlington Heights, IL, with working hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, including every other Saturday. The position does not require travel. The Occupational Therapist will demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to assess, treat, and care for patients in the assigned area, implementing treatment plans based on patient evaluations and developmental stages. Responsibilities include evaluating patients' functional abilities, establishing treatment goals, administering treatment, and documenting patient records according to departmental guidelines. The therapist will also communicate with other healthcare staff, involve patients and families in care plans, and participate in departmental quality assurance programs.

Requirements

  • Completion of a degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA accredited school or equivalent.
  • Current Illinois licensure or eligibility.
  • Certification by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • CPR certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, treat, and care for patients in assigned area.
  • Implement assessment/treatment/care based on developmental stages of the patient.
  • Evaluate patient’s functional abilities/disabilities using appropriate techniques.
  • Establish treatment plans specifying treatment goals and modalities.
  • Administer and instruct patients in performance of treatment plans.
  • Prepare and complete all patient records, billing, and documentation.
  • Communicate and cooperate with physicians, nursing, and other hospital staff.
  • Involve patients, families, and caregivers in the plan of care.
  • Conduct patient/family education sessions and provide home programs.
  • Assist with supervision of paraprofessional staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Utilize correct body mechanics and adhere to safety precautions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, rehab conferences, and educational programs.
  • Assume responsibility for departmental functioning in absence of supervisor.
  • Participate in departmental Quality Assurance Program.
