Transform Lives. Join Vanderbilt Health’s collaborative therapy team, providing specialized care for pediatric patients! About the Role We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Occupational Therapist—ideally Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)—to deliver high-quality therapy for children with upper extremity conditions. This role involves splint fabrication after surgery, developing home programs, and creating individualized treatment plans. You’ll work in a team-based environment with physicians, therapists, and other specialists.

Requirements

  • Active Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) license in Tennessee (or eligibility)
  • Minimum 1 year of pediatric experience

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential
  • Experience in pediatric hand therapy, splinting, and post-operative care
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC preferred)
  • Pediatric specialty certifications (e.g., SIPT, NDT, EI training)

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations and create individualized treatment plans
  • Provide splinting and post-operative care for pediatric patients
  • Educate families on home exercise programs and adaptive techniques
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to improve functional outcomes
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across outpatient clinics (and occasionally hospital settings)
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with Vanderbilt Health and regulatory standards
  • Analyzes comprehensive information from formal and informal assessment that is pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine a rehabilitation treatment diagnosis.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the rehabilitation continuum.
  • Applies appropriate, evidence-based interventions to ensure effective outcomes and re-evaluates performance to assess patient's progress towards goals.
  • Employs strategies to promote successful return to home, community, and school/vocational environments.
