About The Position

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluation, planning, directing, and administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. This role involves administering treatments and physical agents to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. The Occupational Therapist assists patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Additionally, the Occupational Therapist coordinates, delegates, and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff, participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities, and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities. The role also includes providing input in formulating the budget, evaluating department performance versus budget controls, and ensuring that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.

Requirements

  • Current Iowa Occupational Therapy licensure.
  • Graduate of an approved school of Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required, with certification within three months after hire date.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Valid Iowa driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Proof of personal auto insurance policy.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of physical medicine, occupational therapy modalities, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy equipment operation, maintenance, and repairs.
