Requirements

  • Valid Occupational Therapy License

Responsibilities

  • Develop Treatment Plans: Create effective treatment plans and obtain approval from referring physicians.
  • Patient Care: Treat patients according to the physician’s treatment plan.
  • Training Support: Assist the nursing department in training Restorative Aides.
  • Supervision: Oversee Occupational Therapy Assistants in direct patient care and related activities, ensuring compliance with state practice acts.
  • Communication: Regularly update supervisors and healthcare team members on patient progress, challenges, and care plans.
  • Team Participation: Engage in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation in accordance with Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and regulatory requirements.
  • Treatment Changes: Document treatment modifications as per facility policies and procedures.
  • Family Instructing: Train patients’ families and nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge.
