The Occupational Therapist (OTR) position is a permanent, full-time role based in Odanah, WI, under the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians. The OTR will work closely with patients to help them recover from injuries, assessing their physical, communication, and cognitive skills to develop tailored treatment plans. The role involves providing support to family members and caregivers, assessing various environments, and ensuring that patients can participate in everyday activities. The OTR will also perform administrative tasks and create a supportive office environment that promotes health and wellness.

  • Assessing the patient's physical, communication and cognitive skills to develop a treatment plan
  • Giving advice and providing support for family members and caregivers
  • Assessing the home, school and work environments of the patient
  • Installing necessary equipment in classrooms for children with disabilities and teaching them how to use the equipment
  • Helping children and adult patients to take part in everyday activities based on their unique circumstances
  • Assisting patients' exercise for pain relief
  • Reviewing the patient's progress and adapting the treatment accordingly
  • Performing administrative tasks such as keeping records, writing reports and making telephone calls
  • Creating an office environment that supports health and wellness
  • Evaluating worker performance and recommending changes to improve efficiency and reduce injuries
  • Using a combination of physical therapy and office equipment design disciplines to evaluate employee workspaces
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Relevant bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (required since 2007 in most states)
  • Pass the national examination from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical information clearly to patients
  • Ability to work well with many individuals
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Impressive dexterity for hands-on treatments
  • Ability to remain calm during emergency situations
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of Native American community and culture
  • Experience working with diverse ethnic groups
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Strong computer skills preferred
  • Salary range of $35 to $38 per hour
  • Permanent, full-time work
