About The Position

Are you a skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist committed to supporting students in Brooklyn develop the essential skills they need to thrive academically and live independently? We are looking for a part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) to join us and provide critical support to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a significant shortage across the city of related service providers, your expertise is in high demand to support students in building key life skills and reaching their goals. This is an opportunity to create a significant impact on the lives of children with diverse needs through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions. As an OT with Knowledge Road, you will enjoy the autonomy to provide individualized therapy interventions, collaborating with school teams and families to support student development and independence.

Requirements

  • Current valid NYS license as an Occupational Therapist in good standing.
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) registration.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a school or pediatric setting.
  • Proficiency in electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.
  • NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or readiness to obtain prior to start.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality occupational therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, as required by their Individualized Education Service Programs/Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP).
  • Perform comprehensive assessments to evaluate students' fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and activities of daily living skills.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans using sensory integration, motor learning principles, and adaptive strategies.
  • Modify and adapt classroom environments, learning materials, and assistive technology to enhance student participation and independence.
  • Collaborate extensively with parents, teachers, related service providers, and school administrators to support coordinated care and best outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and training to educational staff on positioning, adaptive equipment use, and sensory strategies.
  • Meticulous and timely documentation of all services, progress, and outcomes in accordance with DOE regulations and Knowledge Road standards.
  • Take an active role in IESP/IEP meetings, offering expert occupational therapy insights and evidence-based recommendations.
