About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) for a school-based contract position within the Kent School District in Kent, WA. The Occupational Therapist will play a key role in helping students develop the physical, sensory, and motor skills necessary for success in academic and social settings. Working closely with educators, special education staff, and families, the OT will assess student needs, develop individualized therapy plans, and support IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals to promote independence and meaningful participation in school activities. This position offers a collaborative environment that values student growth, clinician support, and a balanced weekday schedule with no weekends or holidays.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active Occupational Therapist license in the State of Washington.
  • ESA (Educational Staff Associate) certification preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapist (school-based or pediatric setting preferred).
  • Current CPR certification and up-to-date health screenings as required by state and district standards.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for supporting student development and fostering inclusive learning environments.

Nice To Haves

  • ESA (Educational Staff Associate) certification preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapist (school-based or pediatric setting preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students referred for occupational therapy services to determine eligibility and therapeutic needs.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based, individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals.
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, contributing professional input on goals, accommodations, and modifications.
  • Deliver both direct and consultative therapy services in classrooms and other school environments.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to enhance student performance and participation.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and strategies to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in compliance with district and state guidelines.
  • Travel between assigned school sites within the Kent School District as needed.
