Monitors the treatment activities of COTA’s and aides. Supervisory responsibilities: After one year of experience, may act as a student supervisor. Directs treatment activities of OT Assistants and rehabilitation aides.

Responsibilities

  • Completes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with the established standards of care and practice.
  • Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure evaluations are performed safely and accurately (i.e., utilized speech therapist for identifying best modes of communication for aphasic patient).
  • Short- and long-term goals are realistic, measureable, and address functional needs.
  • Goals are written upon completion of evaluation per department standards and guidelines.
  • Goals are identified in collaboration with patient, family and other involved team members.
  • Independently selects and performs therapeutic techniques that are consistent with the patient's problems and medical status and reflect an integration of the therapist's clinical knowledge and theory.
  • Demonstrates knowledge about equipment/materials utilized in patient care per supervisor's observation and chart documentation.
  • Provides for patient/family educational needs.
  • Therapist adheres to all procedures and documentation standards per rehabilitation area/department.
  • Is responsible to work within the guidelines and authorizations provided by the individual's insurance coverage, AND/OR Medicare guidelines.
  • Demonstrates good time management as evidenced by completing work assignments on time, readily accepting assignments and consistently striving to be a productive member of the institution and always puts time to good use.
  • Demonstrates willingness to provide coverage in other rehab areas.
