We will train you at our Grain Valley clinic to prepare for the opening date of our Lee's Summit clinic. Occupational Therapist: Occupational Therapists foster functional development of feeding, sensation, gross and fine motor and personal independence skills to inspire feelings of belonging and inclusion for autistic children and their families.

Requirements

  • Certified Occupational Therapist
  • Bachelor level degree or above
  • Licensed in the state of Missouri
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CPR certification
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and spend time on your feet as well as an ability to lift items up to 25 lbs on occasion

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates safe and comfortable learning in group activities.
  • Integrates an understanding of a child’s sensory, visual motor, and fine motor needs to provide education and accommodations which facilitate play and learning.
  • Fosters play and exploration to expand picky and restricted feeding
  • Constructs meaningful and impactful learning activities through child-led play and interest-based learning.
  • Views all behavior as communication and inspires depth in holistic collaboration.
  • Work collaboratively with BCBAs, Speech Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists and other team members to provide an interdisciplinary approach to therapy services.
  • Provide parent support and coaching when applicable.

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and reevaluations of clients referred to occupational therapy
  • Conduct individual and/or group therapy sessions according to individual needs
  • Participate in staff meetings and conferences indicated to review progress
  • Provide assistance to staff regarding concerns pertaining to occupational therapy and assist staff in maintaining open communication with parents concerning occupational therapy problems
  • Conduct in-service training for staff, parents and others as necessary and requested
  • Supervise occupational therapy students and maintain records on students supervised
  • Supervise COTA’s and OTA’s and maintain documentation as outlined
  • Perform duties at multiple locations, as needed
  • Operate all therapy equipment according to manufacturers and center guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided for statistical and billing purposes
  • Maintain current daily notes and reports of evaluations
  • Plan and conduct special education programs related to occupational therapy for staff and the community upon request
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of Children With Opportunity
  • Assist in providing a safe environment for all patients and staff
  • Assist with problem solving to improve efficiency within the Center
  • Portray a positive attitude and maintain a customer and coworker satisfaction level that limits adverse situations or complaints
  • Promote Center philosophies, generating team spirit and creating and maintaining an environment that fosters staff satisfaction, maximizes productivity and profitability
  • Maintain appropriate social distancing, safety, and enhanced protective hygiene practices both on and off the job.(We provide PPE, caregiver communication tools and practices, and limit exposure through small work groups.)
