Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Active Texas Occupational Therapist (OT) license
  • Home health occupational therapy experience preferred (1+ year required)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong communication, clinical judgment, and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of home health regulations and Medicare guidelines preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance

Responsibilities

  • Perform home health occupational therapy evaluations
  • Develop and update individualized Plans of Care (POC)
  • Provide skilled home health occupational therapy for orthopedic, neurological, cognitive, and post-surgical conditions
  • Address ADLs, IADLs, upper extremity function, coordination, strength, balance, and functional mobility
  • Implement interventions for fall prevention, home safety, and environmental modifications
  • Train patients and caregivers in adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment (DME)
  • Fabricate splints and recommend assistive devices as appropriate
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
  • Communicate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Supervise COTAs and home health aides, as applicable
  • Follow all home health regulations, infection control, and safety standards
