About The Position

Occupational Therapist Samaritan Daytop Village provides life-changing services in mental health, addiction recovery, housing, and more to help individuals and families across New York rebuild their lives. We serve over 33,000 clients annually at more than 60 locations throughout the five boroughs, as well as Suffolk, Rockland, Sullivan, Westchester, and Ulster Counties. The Occupational Therapist provides evidence‑based assessments, treatment plans, and individual and group interventions to support clients in residential mental health and substance use treatment. This role focuses on improving daily living skills, wellness routines, functional performance, and long‑term recovery.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or post‑bachelor’s certificate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current NYS OT license
  • Strong skills in OT assessment, treatment planning, and delivering individual and group interventions in behavioral health or substance use treatment
  • Ability to support daily living skills, wellness routines, functional performance, and recovery‑focused goals
  • Experience using or willingness to learn sensory modulation and structured OT interventions
  • Strong documentation, communication, and time‑management skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience working with diverse populations and practicing trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented care
  • Ability to supervise OT students and support their clinical learning when students are assigned by mutual agreement

Responsibilities

  • Conduct OT assessments and develop client‑centered treatment plans that build daily living skills, routines, wellness, and recovery strategies
  • Provide individual and group OT interventions that support functional performance in behavioral health and residential treatment settings
  • Implement the Let’s Get Organized intervention and integrate evidence‑based OT approaches into daily practice
  • Lead sensory modulation programming, including the Recovery Corner, and train staff in using sensory‑based tools to support self‑regulation and engagement
  • Incorporate sensory strategies into individual and group OT sessions
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
  • Support program evaluation through data collection and reporting on OT outcomes
  • S e rve as a clinical educator and role model for evidence-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented OT practice.
  • Upon mutual agreement with supervisor, supervise and support level I, II, and doctoral occupational therapy students
