Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Active Texas Occupational Therapist (OT) license
- Current CPR certification
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and time-management skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if traveling between communities)
Nice To Haves
- Assisted Living, SNF, Home Health, or Senior Living occupational therapy experience preferred (1+ year preferred)
- Experience with Medicare Part B documentation preferred
- Knowledge of Medicare Part B and senior living therapy regulations preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform occupational therapy evaluations for Assisted Living residents
- Develop and update individualized Plans of Care (POC) under Medicare Part B guidelines
- Provide skilled occupational therapy for orthopedic, neurological, cognitive, and post-surgical conditions
- Address ADLs and IADLs, including dressing, bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding, and functional mobility
- Improve upper extremity strength, coordination, ROM, balance, and fine motor skills
- Implement fall prevention strategies and safety interventions within Assisted Living apartments
- Recommend environmental modifications to promote resident independence
- Train residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment (DME)
- Fabricate splints and recommend assistive devices as appropriate
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
- Communicate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Supervise COTAs as applicable
- Follow Medicare Part B regulations, Assisted Living compliance standards, infection control, and safety protocols
