The Occupational Therapist in a Behavioral Health setting independently evaluates patients’ level of function and determines, develops, and implements individualized treatment goals and plans in alignment with the patient/caregiver goals. Determines treatment strategies and delivers Occupational Therapy services to promote health and wellness, prevent injury or disability, improve and develop self-dependency and maintenance. The Occupational Therapist works in collaboration with an interdisciplinary behavioral health team to reduce symptoms of mental illness through engagement in healthy roles and routines in order to improve productivity, cognition, physical, sensory-perceptual, psychosocial and emotional wellbeing in a variety of contexts and environments in order to maximize function in the areas of daily living. This role encompasses evaluation skills and techniques, analysis of patients, and application of Occupational Therapy to maximize the patient's functional independence. May work in an Inpatient or Outpatient Behavioral Health environment.
