About The Position

This position is part-time and requires availability to fill weekend shifts in the acute care setting, with a minimum of 32 hours in a 4-week period. The role involves interpreting physician referrals, evaluating patients' abilities, establishing care plans, and implementing treatments. Responsibilities include monitoring patient outcomes, providing assistive devices, and ensuring proper documentation. The position also requires participation in performance improvement activities and managing a caseload while pursuing professional growth.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Occupational Therapist license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • No experience required.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets physician referrals and evaluates the patient's physical, perceptual, cognitive, social, and vocational abilities.
  • Establishes a plan of care and implements individual treatment based on evaluation results.
  • Provides and/or fabricates assistive devices and/or splints to enhance patient's functional independence.
  • Monitors and evaluates outcomes and adjusts individualized treatment plans as necessary.
  • Identifies factors affecting patient's physical and psychosocial comfort.
  • Plans for and completes patient discharge, including providing written home programs and referrals.
  • Completes all required documentation including patient progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Applies insurance guidelines regarding authorization and number of visits.
  • Responsible for cleaning up after patient treatment and keeping the area neat.
  • Performs various manual techniques, patient positioning, transferring, and transporting duties.
  • Demonstrates skill in the use of modalities and exercise equipment.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Manages assigned caseload and informs site leadership of coverage needs.
  • Pursues professional educational growth through continuing education courses.
  • Orients new staff to clinical and department policies.
  • Participates in the evaluation process of co-workers.
