About The Position

Responsible for patient examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic intervention. Practices within the scope of the profession of Occupational Therapy for adult and pediatric patients. Multiple shift options are available currently to provide options to our candidates. We are currently looking for 2 Occupational Therapists to fill our roles. 36 Hours - Monday thru Wednesday 8:00AM to 8:30PM with occasional weekends 36 Hours - Thursday thru Saturday 8:00AM to 8:30PM - This role would qualify for Weekend Package Pay from 7:00AM to end of shift Saturday. 40 Hours - Wednesday thru Saturday 10:00AM to 8:30PM (4 - 10 Hours Shifts) 32Hours - Monday thru Tuesday 12:00PM to 8:30PM and Wednesday thru Thursday 8:00AM to 4:30PM.

Requirements

• Meets educational requirements as necessary for obtaining professional license as an Occupational Therapist
• Current licensure in good standing to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Iowa
• Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire
• Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
• Multicultural sensitivity
• Microsoft Office – basic computer skills
• Customer/patient focused
• Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions
• Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position

Responsibilities

• Examines patients/clients - obtains history, performs a systems review, and selects and administers discipline- and age-specific tests and measures to obtain data
• Evaluates patients/clients - makes clinical judgments based on data gathered during the examination
• Develops patient/client diagnoses or problem lists (cluster of signs and symptoms)
• Develops patient/client prognoses (optimal level of improvement and time needed to achieve it)
• In collaboration with patient or family develops plans of care with measurable goals
• Develops and implements patient/client interventions, including delegating and supervising support staff
• Provides patient and family education and training
• Completes required patient care documentation and communication
• Formulates and implements patients discharge plans in collaboration with others
• Collaborates with hospital departments and community agencies to deliver coordinated care
• Maintains a safe and orderly work environment
• Meets department productivity standards
• Provides clinical supervision of the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Therapy Technicians
• Facilitates orderly department functioning
• Participates in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and hospital meetings
• Participates in interdisciplinary task forces and committees
• Participates in performance improvement activities
• Contributes to program development
• Participates in hospital and department provided inservices and community education
• Participates in development and education of colleagues
• Promotes a greater understanding of rehabilitation and of Occupational Therapy in the hospital and community
• Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development in clinical practice, regulatory and fiscal issues
