About The Position

Knowledge Road is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team and provide critical support to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a significant city-wide shortage of related service providers, your expertise is urgently needed to help students develop crucial life skills and achieve their full potential. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with diverse needs through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions. As an OT with Knowledge Road, you will have the autonomy to deliver individualized therapy interventions, working collaboratively with school teams and families to support student development and independence.

Requirements

  • Current NYS license as an Occupational Therapist in good standing.
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) registration.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a school-based or pediatric setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.
  • NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to obtain prior to start.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, high-quality occupational therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, as mandated by their Individualized Education Service Programs/Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP).
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and activities of daily living skills.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans utilizing sensory integration, motor learning principles, and adaptive strategies.
  • Design and modify classroom environments, learning materials, and assistive technology to promote student participation and independence.
  • Collaborate extensively with parents, teachers, related service providers, and school administrators to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.
  • Provide consultation and training to educational staff on positioning, adaptive equipment use, and sensory strategies.
  • Maintain meticulous and timely documentation of all services, progress, and outcomes in compliance with DOE regulations and Knowledge Road standards.
  • Actively participate in IESP/IEP meetings, offering expert occupational therapy insights and evidence-based recommendations.
