About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (OT) position is part of the Acute Care Weekend Program at Advocate Sherman Hospital. This part-time role requires working a minimum of 20 hours each weekend, specifically on Saturdays and Sundays from 0700-1730. The position includes a $2500 sign-on bonus, payable in two installments, and offers a weekend differential of $11.00 per hour. The OT will be responsible for evaluating patients, establishing treatment plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care. The role also involves documentation, patient discharge planning, and participation in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school.
  • Licensed OT for the State of Illinois or State of Wisconsin.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 90 days.
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets physician referrals and evaluates the patient's physical, perceptual, cognitive, social, and vocational abilities.
  • Establishes a plan of care and implements individual treatment based on evaluation results.
  • Monitors and evaluates outcomes and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
  • Plans for and completes patient discharge, providing written home programs and referrals for community services.
  • Completes all required documentation following department policy and accreditation standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining site/department established productivity standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes.
  • May supervise occupational therapy assistants and students.
