About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (OT) position at Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA, is a PRN role requiring two weekend days per month and at least one holiday per year, with working hours from 7AM to 3PM. The incumbent will be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions in a team environment. The role emphasizes accountability for performance improvement activities, problem-solving, and productivity.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Master’s degree program or a qualified four-year Bachelor’s degree program approved by ACOTE in collaboration with the AOTA (or foreign equivalent).
• Hold an applicable and current state license or certification to practice or meet all qualifications to be eligible for traineeship.
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.
• Experience working in the acute care setting is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments.
• Develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide age-appropriate therapeutic interventions.
• Evaluate patient response to treatment.
• Document the course of patient care in the electronic medical record including progress made and continuing need for treatment.
• Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that support continued functional independence and document same in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
