About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) responsibilities include managing a caseload of clients using evidence-based/ person centered principles to develop, implement and coordinate an occupational therapy program. This individual will provide screening, evaluation and treatment to clients to assist them in gaining functional skills. The OTR/L will select the activities most appropriate to the client. Service provisions may include direct, monitored and consultative approaches. Problems that arise in the treatment program are expected to be resolved independently. The OTR/L will maintain a caseload of 75% productivity providing OT services to clients. The OTR/L is expected to provide services that place the highest priority on the ethical delivery of therapy with the best interests of the clients at the center of his/her efforts. The OTR/L maintains a professional and ethical relationship with Partners In Excellence’s clients and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • OTR/L Certification from NBCOT or AOTA as well as title licensure from Minnesota and/or Wisconsin Department of Health.
  • General knowledge of typical and special needs clients.
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Dependable, consistent, and tactful.
  • Ability to problem solve and make appropriate decisions.
  • Successfully passed an initial and subsequent background checks.
  • Must have some experience and be interested in working with children.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to administer and write assessments/evaluations, treatment plans and progress notes in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work within a team and comply with supervisory direction.
  • Must demonstrate a clear ability to accept corrective feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or related field if Bachelor’s degree is in Occupational Therapy).
  • Member of AOTA/ MOTA.
  • Previous behavioral therapy experience.
  • Knowledge of teaching procedures associated with Verbal Behavior Therapy.
  • Previous therapy experience working with children with autism.

Responsibilities

  • Document therapy services accurately and timely in accordance with facility and Federal Regulations.
  • Provide screenings, evaluations and direct therapy to clients in a 1:1 medical model ensuring goals and objectives are being met.
  • Coordinates and completes client assessments, tracks due dates for P/A and new treatment plans.
  • Work with minimal supervision to provide direct therapy using skills, techniques and expectations detailed in AOTA Scope of Practice.
  • Complete the required technical training and participates in ongoing training opportunities.
  • Redirect, intervene, observe, and monitor client behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively with all staff members.
  • Make sound decisions and use good judgment when dealing with clients, parents, and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate dependability and consistency in therapy and other job related activities.
  • Communicate daily progress and client concerns to the appropriate staff members.
  • Organize and clean therapy space and equipment.
  • Assist in keeping the facility safe, organized, sanitary, and guide others to do the same.
  • Conduct various assessments as deemed appropriate.
  • Guide treatment team on how to properly implement and carryover OT goals in the PODS.
  • Assist clients with personal care including: dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, food, nutrition, and diet needs.
  • Attend and participate in meetings.
  • Report all safety concerns to the Safety Director or his/her direct supervisor.
  • Provide leadership and clinical supervision to COTA/L’s providing direct OT treatment.
  • Provide direct therapy through various activities.
  • Formally and informally mentor newly hired staff.
  • Promote an awareness of the OT role to parents and Partners staff.
  • Provide in-service trainings to staff as directed or requested.
  • Assist with interviews and selecting applicants for hire in the OT Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
