We are currently recruiting for a 40-hour Occupational Therapist for Boston Children's Hospital @ Waltham. This Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Psychiatry /CBAT will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized patient treatment programs. Establishing treatment goals and administering appropriate occupational therapy procedures and modalities. The role includes preparing discharge plans and home treatment programs, providing education to patients and families, and monitoring treatment outcomes, modifying programs as needed, and communicating recommendations to physicians and other providers. Additionally, the therapist will review patient medical history/record and select, administer, and interpret a broad range of standardized and non-standardized tests and measurements to assess patients' functional status. The position also involves designing, fabricating, and/or recommending orthotics, adaptive/assistive equipment and technology for patients, including those with complex, rare, or multiple dysfunctions. The therapist will communicate with equipment designers and/or vendors regarding equipment specifications and patient needs, train patients, families, and/or caretakers in the use/operation of prescribed orthotics/equipment, and record assessments, diagnoses, and treatment in patient medical records according to established documentation standards. The therapist will communicate patient care assignments and scheduling needs to assist with operational planning activities, attend and contribute to team meetings, patient care rounds, and other interdisciplinary forums, and provide occupational therapy consultation to physicians, outpatient clinics, and others as requested. The role requires working closely with other members of the clinical staff areas such as nursing and recreational therapy, and establishing and maintaining professional relationships with patients and families.
