About The Position

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, a designated Primary Stroke Center, is seeking a motivated and clinically strong Occupational Therapist to support and help grow our neuro-rehabilitation services. This role is ideal for an OT with a passion for stroke care, neurological recovery, and interdisciplinary collaboration in an acute care hospital setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • This position requires a Master degree, OTR.
  • Current New York State Occupational Therapy license (or eligibility).
  • NBCOT certification.
  • Experience or strong interest in acute care and/or neuro rehabilitation, particularly stroke.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within an interdisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a Primary Stroke Center or acute care hospital.
  • Neuro-focused clinical experience (stroke, TBI, neurological disorders).
  • Interest in program development, quality improvement, and service growth.
  • Flexibility to support variable schedules as needed (per diem role).

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive OT evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for acute care patients, with a focus on stroke, neuro, and medically complex cases
  • Deliver skilled occupational therapy interventions addressing: ADLs and IADLs. Upper extremity function. Cognitive, perceptual, and visual deficits. Neuro re-education and functional recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Nursing, Physicians, and Case Management to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in discharge planning, including recommendations for post-acute services and durable medical equipment.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in compliance with hospital, state, and payer requirements.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and growth of a high-quality neuro OT program.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards, including Joint Commission requirements.
  • Maintain patient safety and professional standards in a fast-paced acute care environment.
