About The Position

The Occupational Therapist II (OT II) position at Houston Methodist is responsible for evaluating and developing therapy plans for a diverse range of patient diagnoses and acuities. This role involves providing education to patients and their families, collaborating with interprofessional teams, and serving as a mentor to less experienced staff. The OT II also participates in quality metrics collection and process improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
• Three years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, or two years with a Doctorate degree, or completion of an Occupational Therapy Fellowship/Residency program.
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification.
• State Licensure for Occupational Therapy (Compact license acceptable within 90 days).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients across a broad range of diagnoses and acuities to determine treatment plans.
• Develop and implement occupational therapy treatment plans based on evaluation findings.
• Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers, adapting teaching methods as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to modify treatment plans and ensure achievement of patient goals.
• Mentor and precept less experienced staff and students in clinical rotations.
• Monitor patient progress towards treatment goals and adjust plans as necessary.
• Participate in departmental projects and hospital committees to improve patient care and outcomes.
