About The Position

Join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care and service in a Christian environment. As an Occupational Therapist, you will assess clients/patients/residents and design occupational therapy treatments to help them develop, maintain, and recover their ability to perform tasks in their daily lives. You will conduct evaluations and provide interventions for clients/patients/residents who have functional, cognitive, or behavioral impairments. Your role will involve evaluating physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial abilities, developing realistic therapy goals, and administering appropriate occupational therapy programs. You will document client information for evaluation, establish therapeutic plans, and modify them as necessary. Additionally, you will provide education to clients/patients/residents to enhance understanding and improve functional outcomes, while demonstrating knowledge of current research in your daily treatment practices.

Requirements

  • Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
  • Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Occupational Therapist.
  • Certification through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
  • New graduates in the process of testing with the board will be considered with a temporary license in South Dakota and Iowa.

Responsibilities

  • Assess clients/patients/residents and design occupational therapy treatments.
  • Help clients/patients/residents develop, maintain, and recover their ability to perform daily tasks.
  • Conduct evaluations and provide interventions for clients/patients/residents with functional, cognitive, or behavioral impairments.
  • Evaluate physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial abilities of clients/patients/residents.
  • Develop realistic therapy goals and administer appropriate occupational therapy programs.
  • Document client information for evaluation and establish therapeutic plans.
  • Provide education to clients/patients/residents to enhance understanding and improve functional outcomes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-related treatments and evaluations.
  • Exhibit flexibility with variable work schedules/assignments.
  • Participate in activities to promote the department and organization.
  • Interact with individuals outside of the department including providers, case managers, and family members.
  • Supervise assistants, aides, and students in providing patient/resident care.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by manager.
