About The Position

Select Physical Therapy is seeking a full-time or part-time Certified Hand Therapist - Occupational Therapist for our outpatient orthopedic center in New Milford. Although a certified hand therapist (CHT) is preferred, we are willing to consider occupational therapists with at least one year of experience working in hand therapy (required). We have a network of hand therapists and CHTs available for support and are excited to mentor occupational therapists aspiring to be a CHT. In this role, you will provide specialized care for injuries and conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Evaluate and treat patients, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions to improve function and reduce pain. Expected to work with various populations, including post-operative patients, individuals with chronic conditions, and the management of orthopedic injuries. The hand therapist will thoroughly assess the patient's hand and upper extremity function, identifying impairments, limitations, and disabilities. Must be able to design, fabricate, and fit custom orthoses (splints) to support healing, prevent deformities, and enhance function.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) -accredited school of occupational therapy
  • CPR certification
  • One (1) year of experience working in hand therapy
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of experience in the application of custom splinting pre and post-op orthopedic
  • Minimum two years in adult rehabilitation; hand and splinting experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assistants and aides and contribute to case management.
  • Stay current and up to date with occupational therapy research and employ Evidence Based Practice (RCB, clinician expertise, patient perception).
  • Provide comprehensive and individualized treatment, from evaluating and creating a plan of care to treatment and discharge.
  • Maintain positive level of interaction with centers and patients. Enhance and expand client relations with facilities and their staff.
