About The Position

The Occupational Therapist - Assistive Technology position at Mary Free Bed involves evaluating patients' needs for occupational therapy and planning individual treatment programs in accordance with Michigan licensure and OT scope of practice. The role requires keeping treatment skills updated through continuing education and evidence-based research. The therapist will work within the program's strategic objectives to provide high-quality patient care and support the rehabilitation process.

Requirements

• Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
• Licensure required in every US State and Territory where practicing.
• Possess and maintain BLS certification.

• Experience with wheelchair seating.
• Experience with adults and pediatrics.
• Experience with neuro patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license.
• Evaluate patient condition and establish treatment goals in collaboration with patients and families.
• Create and administer treatment plans according to established goals.
• Re-evaluate patient status and revise treatment plans as necessary.
• Evaluate patients' need for medical equipment and provide instructions on its use.
• Participate in planning for patient discharge considering community support and environmental limitations.
• Document patient status and progress according to established standards.
• Communicate with interdisciplinary team members to integrate occupational therapy treatment.
• Instruct patients and families in occupational therapy procedures.
• Attend meetings and in-services as designated.
• Meet or exceed program productivity expectations.
• Participate in orientation and training of new staff.
• Serve as clinical instructor for occupational therapy students.
• Participate in program development and/or research activities.
