The occupational therapist assistant works under the direction and supervision of the occupational therapist. This role involves implementing selected components of therapeutic interventions and activities of daily living, obtaining data related to the interventions provided, and making modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient as directed by the occupational therapist or to ensure the patient's safety and comfort. This may include adaptation or modification of the environment or objects within the environment to facilitate engagement and participation.
