About The Position

University of Washington Medical Center–Montlake – Rehabilitation Therapies has an outstanding opportunity for a Occupational Therapist 2. WORK SCHEDULE Part-Time / 32 hours per week Day Shift POSITION HIGHLIGHTS This individual will be responsible for evaluation, planning, directing and administering occupational therapy evaluation and intervention to patients referred by a licensed provider. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program AND successful completion of American Occupational Therapy Association certification examination AND 18 months of professional occupational therapy experience. OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Licensed by the state of Washington as an Occupational Therapist or has a valid probational certificate issued by the state of Washington to practice occupational therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Direct COTAs, aides, students, and volunteers
  • Observe and evaluates treatment effect
  • Perform an appropriate evaluation on all patients as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments as per protocol. This includes adolescent, geriatric patients and the general patient population
  • Assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation – makes appropriate physician contact for intervention
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
  • Formulate a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate
  • Has knowledge of occupational therapy interventions
  • Maintain records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department
  • Consult with other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities
  • Assist with orientation and in-service training, participates in guidance and educational programs
  • Assist in evaluation of staff including interviewing and hiring
