Jackson Memorial Perdue Medical Center is a long-term-care facility located on a beautiful 11-acre campus in South Dade. The medical center is a licensed, 163-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. We provide care for a diverse cultural population of younger and older adults. The Occupational Therapist 1 is responsible for administering occupational therapy programs in a county hospital and in homes, performing a full range of occupational therapy activities following physician prescriptions. This role combines professional therapeutic skills with knowledge of fundamental theory and objectives of rehabilitation. Employees in this classification develop therapy treatment plans, evaluate patient progress, decide on treatment modifications, and prepare analytical progress notes. Incumbents perform in rehabilitation, psychiatric, and continuing patient care settings, utilizing a variety of media including arts and crafts, pre-vocational testing, functional therapy, and programs for activities of daily living and educational skills. An additional responsibility is for the training and daily supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants. Work is performed in accordance with recognized professional principles and techniques, requiring professional judgment in the development and modification of treatment plans and evaluation of patients' progress.
