About The Position

This position is part of the Occupational Accident Profit Center within the Specialty Business Unit (SBU) of Accident & Health (A&H). The team focuses on serving the trucking industry and the Gig Economy, providing specialized insurance solutions tailored to these markets. As a Rating Intern, you will work closely with a team of four Operations Rating Specialists and six Underwriters. This collaborative environment will give you exposure to the full lifecycle of account management, underwriting, and the rating of commercial lines such as Workers’ Compensation (WC), Non-Trucking Liability (NTL), and Auto Physical Damage (APD). In this role, you will support the rating and underwriting teams by conducting data accuracy checks, creating reports, and assisting with daily transactions within WC state bureaus and internal rating systems. You will gain valuable knowledge about rating commercial lines and Accident & Health products, including WC, NTL, and Physical Damage (PD). Your responsibilities will include data entry into both internal and external systems, completing state filings and reporting, and communicating with brokers and clients. You will perform a variety of tasks that support the operations and underwriting functions of the business, all while remaining aligned with the organization’s strategy, commitments, and goals.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or other Insurance related field from an accredited College/University
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Exceptional communications skills, both oral and written
  • Personal concern, interest, pride and accountability in all areas of responsibility
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organization and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Data entry into agency management systems
  • Work in State Rating Bureaus to check for policy accuracy and completion
  • Handle ad-hoc requests & questions, both internal and external
  • Perform system audits and data accuracy checks
  • Assist with Workers’ Compensation and Commercial Auto rating activities and related support functions
  • Help with quality control for Commercial Auto Endorsements
  • Support the rating and calculation of premiums for quotes, policies, and endorsements
  • Work within State Rating Bureaus to check for policy accuracy and completion
  • Assist in processing cancellations and non-renewals in internal systems and rating bureaus
  • Participate in the renewal business workflow, including rating, quoting, binding, and booking
  • Communicate with internal teams, agents, and brokers as needed
  • Support operations and underwriting teams with various tasks
  • Perform projects and assignments under manager’s direction
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions.
  • The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $16/hr. to a maximum of $25/hr.
  • The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role.
  • To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
  • You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
