The Occupational Health, Safety & Risk Manager (OHSRM) reports to the Chief Public Safety Officer and serves in a shared operational capacity supporting both the Catawba Nation Government and its enterprise operations. Approximately eighty percent (80%) of the position’s responsibilities support the Nation’s casino enterprise and related North Carolina business operations, while twenty percent (20%) support Catawba Nation Government and Reservation operations in South Carolina. The OHSRM collaborates closely with Tribal leadership, enterprise management, the Tribal Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Services Director, the Catawba Nation Tribal Police Department, Human Resources, and operational stakeholders to implement coordinated, enterprise-wide occupational health, safety, and risk management strategies. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and managing programs designed to reduce operational risk, prevent workplace injuries, protect Tribal assets, and promote a culture of safety across governmental and enterprise environments. Responsibilities include policy development, hazard assessment, compliance oversight, claims coordination, and workforce training. Through systematic leadership and cross-department collaboration, the OHSRM ensures regulatory compliance, operational continuity, and proactive risk mitigation across all supported operations.
