About The Position

Vighter is recruiting dedicated and compassionate Occupational Health Physicians to join our healthcare team with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Louisville, KY. The Occupational Health Physician provides medical expertise to promote employee health, prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, and ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. This role includes performing medical evaluations, managing work-related conditions, advising on workplace health policies, and collaborating with employers to foster a safe and healthy work environment. The standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding all currently recognized national standards.

Requirements

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board certified or board eligible in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Preventive Medicine. Requires five (5) years post-residency experience.
  • Physician shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • All licenses held by the personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses. Contract physician(s) who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
  • All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date.
  • BLS and CPR are mandatory certifications.
  • Contractor must provide a copy of their DEA certificate.

  • Must be able to sit or stand for more than 8 hours per day, must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment
  • Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
  • Positions require applicants to be US Citizens, 21 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and fitness-for-duty medical examinations.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide medical guidance on workplace accommodations, restrictions, and return-to-work decisions.
  • Advise employers on compliance with OSHA, ADA, FMLA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement occupational health programs, including wellness, injury prevention, ergonomics, and health promotion.
  • Evaluate and monitor workplace hazards, exposures, and employee health risks.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with safety officers, HR, management, and external healthcare providers.
  • Deliver education and training to employees on health, safety, and wellness topics.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities, including first aid and disaster planning.
