What You Will Do: This position serves as a highly skilled, autonomous occupational health nurse at our West Fargo location. Incumbents typically have previous general healthcare, acute care, or occupational health experience. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated career progression through successively more advanced and complex administrative and clinical positions. The job functions could include but are not limited to the following:

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in required state(s).
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible job-related experience in occupational medicine or acute care are preferred.
  • CPR Certification is required.
  • Clinical Leadership: Knowledge of key business and clinical leadership concepts relevant to the healthcare function; ability to balance business needs with the needs of patients' and patient care priorities.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Diagnosis: Knowledge of the techniques, roles, and responsibilities in assessing and diagnosing patients; ability to apply the knowledge appropriately assess and diagnose patients in to diverse situations.
  • Nursing Assessment and Care - Knowledge of the policies and activities regarding nursing assessment and care; ability to assess patients' nursing care needs, develop and implement a nursing care plan, monitor progress and make adjustments as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to learn and manipulate various on-line databases.
  • A Bachelor's degree is typically preferred, or extensive experience.
  • The position typically requires knowledge in various areas of occupational health and Human Resources, including but not limited to, OSHA compliance, ADA, EH&S, HR, ergonomics, health promotion, EMS, and/or education / training.

Responsibilities

  • The delivery of comprehensive nursing services related to employee illness and injury.
  • Functions as an autonomous nurse with the ability to respond independently to the majority of clinical and administrative demands.
  • Seeks consultation and expert support when needed.)
  • Responds to and even leads on-site medical emergency response.
  • Assumes responsibility for clinical administration and compliance.
  • Supports local Human Resources and facility leadership in their initiatives toward health, safety, productivity and engagement.
  • Supports medical staff and outside entities in determining the work-relatedness of injuries, complying with governmental regulations, and conducting investigations. This may be done on a limited basis.
  • Performs post offer questionnaire reviews and drug testing for local candidates. May occasionally help with post offer coverage of other clinics.
  • Conducts DOT drug testing, DOT Breath Alcohol testing, and fit-for-duty evaluations.
  • Conducts OSHA mandated and other surveillance exams.
