About The Position

We have an opening for a highly skilled Occupational Health Nurse Case Manager & Clinic RN to support the Health Services Department in a dual capacity, providing both Nurse Case Management and Clinic RN services. This position will split responsibilities, with approximately 60% focused on Nurse Case Management and 40% on Clinic RN duties . The position is within the Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate. This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work. You will As an Occupational Health Nurse Case Manager & Clinic RN , you will leverage your expertise in emergency response, injury case management, employee health, and OSHA compliance to: Case Management (60%) Manage case files for work-related and non-occupational injuries and illnesses. Support and optimize operational readiness and employee safety. Collaborate closely with the HSD Clinician team, Workers’ Compensation Coordinator, and Return-to-Work liaisons to ensure seamless case management and optimal outcomes for employees. Coordinate return-to-work and accommodation requests, partnering with ESH, risk management, and HR. Clinic RN Duties (40%) Deliver acute triage, stabilization, and evidence-based clinical care. Conduct hearing conservation program activities and medical testing for lab employees. Perform health hazard and worksite evaluations, and provide preventive healthcare training and counseling. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight of medical technicians. Maintain medical surveillance and compliance documentation in accordance with OSHA and DOE standards. Ensure facility and work activity safety risks are identified and managed to protect HSD staff health and safety. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other assigned projects. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE L-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Valid California Registered Nurse license, current, unrestricted registered nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prior significant clinical nursing experience in occupational health, emergency, or urgent care settings, preferably in high-intensity and industrial environments.
  • Proficient with phlebotomy.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, ADA, FMLA, HIPPA, and worker’s compensation regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for interacting with employees, providers, and management.
  • Strong clinical skills, quick decision-making abilities, and expertise in managing rapidly changing patient situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, safety professionals, and HR.

Nice To Haves

  • COHN/COHN-S (Certified Occupational Health Nurse), CCM (Certified Case Manager), or other advanced certification.
  • Certified in Spirometry and Audiometry/ Occupational Hearing Conservation Certification (CAOHC).
  • Leadership and Case management experience, preferably in occupational health or workers’ compensation.
  • Formal training, certification, and/or Experience in Disability Case Management.
