The Occupational Health Coordinator (OHC) facilitates the coordination of the care for injured workers and the needs and requirements of contracted ProHealth companies. The goal is to provide optimal customer service and excellent patient care. The OHC also works cooperatively with the ProHealth clinical and management staff to ensure that training, supplies, and equipment used, meet the requirements of applicable outside agencies' regulations. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

  • Coordination and management of the care of injured workers for both Bronson and external employers.
  • Coordinates care to facilitate patient's timely progress and return to work.
  • Assertive care coordination among the interdisciplinary team.
  • Acts as a clinical resource for the inter-disciplinary team.
  • Communicates with employers to facilitate injured worker care and return to work.
  • Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care.
  • Maintains current knowledge of accreditation, regulatory requirements, organizational standards, occupational standards of care, department policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a leader, clinical expert resource, mentoring staff, maintains positive relationships, and builds teamwork within the entire healthcare team.
  • Provides input into guidelines, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Functions as informal leader, assisting with daily workflow and process improvement.
  • Facilitates new hire orientation and ongoing competency assessment.
  • Coordinates daily staff work assignments.
  • Monitors clinic throughput and workflow.
  • Successful completion of an accredited program for Registered Nurse preferred.
  • Experience in a health care delivery setting desired.
  • Experience with workers compensation/occupational health strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Hospital Employee Health/Infection Control preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan with 5 years experience preferred.
  • BS/BSN preferred.
  • Certification in Occupational Health/Case Management preferred.
  • Maintains BLS.
  • Valid Michigan Drivers License.
  • Ability to do fractions, percentages, decimals, metric conversions and pass a basic math competency test.
  • Ability to obtain, read and interpret data from equipment and computers and communicate findings amongst coworkers, providers and employers.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills in interactions with coworkers and customers.
  • Accuracy and completeness in documentation and the performance of tasks.
