We’re hiring an Occupational Health and Safety Manager to Live. Work. Explore. at the south rim of the Grand Canyon! This role focuses on managing and delivering occupational health and safety programs, training, and compliance to ensure employee safety and regulatory adherence in a maintenance and engineering environment. The position emphasizes hands-on training, program management, collaboration, and continuous improvement of safety standards.

  • Develop and deliver in-person classroom training to maintenance and engineering staff on OSHA and ADOSH topics.
  • Manage OSHA-mandated medical surveillance and respiratory protection programs.
  • Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive Respiratory Protection Program.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to analyze learning needs.
  • Conduct training needs assessments for all employees at the Grand Canyon south rim.
  • Document the required health, safety, and environmental training by department and position.
  • Facilitate/organize skills training for the engineering department.
  • Collaborate with the L&D property and corporate department e-learning platform.
  • Schedule required training classes and track employee participation through Xanterra’s Learning Management System, L3.
  • Facilitate Sustainability training.
  • Ensure that employees in selected position or trades have been offered the company-sponsored immunizations.
  • Participate in the weekly safety meetings and present an engineering training topic.
  • Conduct Day 2 Safety orientation for all employees and Engineering Department Specific Orientation.
  • Assist the Property Leadership with identifying root causes and providing solutions.
  • Provide training recommendations and assist the department with implementation of safe work practices.
  • Maintain current certifications and participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety protocols and standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety among South Rim employees.
  • Work with the EHS Manager to keep all Safety Program updated according to the law.
  • Support EHS Manager on Quarterly Safety audits.
  • Champion key training initiatives and develop programs for new technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent credentials.
  • OSHA 30-hour and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or facilities maintenance environments.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing safety programs and training.
  • Proficiency in safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations (EPA, DOT) and workplace ergonomics.
  • Strong data analysis skills for tracking safety metrics and trends.
  • Experience with safety software tools (e.g., EHS management platforms).
  • Excellent communication and training skills for diverse teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to influence and lead safety culture initiatives across departments.
  • Experience working in remote or high-risk environments (e.g., national parks, construction sites).
  • Knowledge of emergency response planning and crisis management.
