The Department of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) provides comprehensive programs and services to support healthy, safe, and environmentally responsible practices for our world class faculty, staff, students and university community. EHS assists the campus community with compliance and promotes health, safety, and environmental stewardship. With general oversight and direction from the Director, Occupational Health and Safety, the Health and Safety Associate works within a multi-disciplinary group of environmental health and safety professionals and is responsible for assigned health and safety programs, and other injury prevention projects for the Ithaca campus and outlying facilities, except for the Weill Medical College & Qatar. The primary function of the position is to provide coordination and supportive duties for the administration and maintenance of occupational health, safety, and injury prevention programs and initiatives. The incumbent will develop and implement initiatives, procedures, programs, and training that promote a safe, healthful, and compliant environment for all faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, the incumbent will perform inspections, provide industrial hygiene services, technical support, and compliance guidance to university personnel and their operations. The specific compliance programs assigned are identified under the Duties and Responsibilities section.
