About The Position

Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides habilitation or rehabilitation occupational therapy services to patients.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Must have current valid license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the state(s) of practice
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have basic computer skills
• Must have strong interpersonal skills
• Must have knowledge of the regulatory requirements at the state, federal, and local level

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and completes documentation in a timely manner and within insurance guidelines
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills and reasoning process in carrying out the plan of care
• Assists and instructs patients in pushing wheelchair, supporting or lifting, positioning in and out of bed and other activities of daily living
• Assists in specialized motor or self-help activities, constructs supportive or assistive devices
• Observes patient for signs of distress and adjusts activities accordingly
• Prepares clinical notes and progress reports
• Insures patient charges and productivity report are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Instructs patient, family and other team members in proper use of assistive equipment, prosthetic devices and adaptation devices
