About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Full Time Obstetrics and Gynecology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (OBGYN NP/OBGYN PA) to join our team of medical professionals at the Pima County Detention Center located in Tucson, Arizona. As a Correctional OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide comprehensive healthcare to women, focusing on reproductive health, pregnancy, and childbirth, to the patients in residence. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Arizona
  • Current DEA registration
  • An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician
  • A valid CPR card
  • Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills
  • Have strong computer skills
  • Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Providing gynecological services including well woman care, annual Pap smears and pelvic exams, health education, STD screening and follow up contraceptive counseling and prenatal care and postpartum care
  • Diagnosing and treating conditions like infections, menstrual problems, and menopause-related issues
  • Prescribing medications and therapies
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams
  • Offering patient counseling and support
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient encounters
  • Formulating a working diagnosis, develop and implement treatment plans
  • Evaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatment
  • Conducting rounds
  • Scheduling and performing laboratory and diagnostic procedures
