About The Position

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologist (open rank) dedicated to outstanding clinical care, education, and academic excellence. UNC Hospitals, located on the main UNC campus in Chapel Hill, NC, is a premier academic medical center providing comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care. Our main campus serves as a Level I Trauma Center, Level IV Maternal Care Center, and is home to a Level IV NICU . The Division of Obstetric Anesthesia is a dynamic group of nine fellowship-trained faculty who provide care for a diverse and complex patient population. Our division supports an ACGME -accredited fellowship program with one fellow per year and participates actively in resident and medical student education. UNC performs more than 4,400 deliveries annually, including a large proportion of high-risk maternal and fetal cases such as maternal cardiac disease, placenta accreta spectrum disorders, and a wide range of hematologic and neurologic conditions. We also care for patients with sickle cell disease and other complex comorbidities. Our team collaborates closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine colleagues in managing advanced perinatal care, including a robust fetal surgery program performing procedures such as open neural tube defect repair, fetoscopic interventions for twin-twin transfusion syndrome, and other advanced fetal procedures. We seek to expand our team with a fellowship-trained anesthesiologist who shares our commitment to clinical excellence, innovative teaching, and multidisciplinary collaboration in the care of high-risk obstetric patients. The physician will be a member of the faculty practice and there are opportunities for scholarly contribution and development.
