About The Position

The Surveillance Observer / Network Technician protects the integrity of all table games, sports book, slots, hard and soft count rooms, cage, keno, cashiers, and other related areas. Video document all irregularities/deviations from normal activities and alert Supervisors when any irregularities or deviations occur. The Observer / Network Technician is also responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of the Surveillance System. They will perform all duties in accordance with TLC Casino Enterprises INC, Four Queens Hotel & Casino, Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel and Department policies and procedures, and must have a working knowledge of NGCB Surveillance requirements.

Requirements

  • Physical - must possess the ability to: Sit and observe digital video recording for extended periods of time.
  • Verbally communicate in English in person and over the telephone.
  • Operate a video switcher, digital recording equipment and computer with average or above average dexterity.
  • Detect suspicious behavior.
  • Write reports in a factual manner using effective and professional terminology.
  • Maintain excellent vision and hearing.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. or more in Surveillance and related equipment
  • Ability to access areas of installation of Surveillance equipment - ceilings, attics, etc.
  • Non-physical - must possess: Specific knowledge of all areas observed - including, but not limited to rules, procedures, cheating methods and card counting schemes.
  • Knowledge of Nevada gaming regulations and statutes and a thorough understanding of all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Self-motivation and be a team player.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Surveillance System experience in providing maintenance, repair and installation of NVRs, video monitors, video cameras, pan/tilt motor and gears, system processor and controls, along with surveillance systems peripheral equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and have substantial computer skill (programming and troubleshooting).
  • Ability to obtain or currently possess American Dynamics certificates (current technicians must obtain the required certifications by 2019): Enterprise Certify Installer Course.
  • Basic Max 100 / Video Blox training.
  • Pro-Watch Certified Installer course.
  • Fiber optic Certified Technician.
  • Network Certified Technician
  • Candidates/Employees must possess at least two (2) years of casino experience in the video surveillance of table games, slots, hard and soft count rooms, cashiers and related areas.
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs and digital video recording equipment & software.
  • Employment eligibility for the United States.
  • Valid Nevada Gaming License.
  • Must obtain certificates Enterprise Certify Installer Course.
  • Basic Max 100 / Video Blox training.
  • Pro-Watch Certified Installer course.
  • Fiber optic Certified Technician.
  • Network Certified Technician

Nice To Haves

  • Climb a ladder and drives a lift in a Casino environment (scissor lift operation and safety certificates a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Operate Surveillance equipment to ensure accurate video documentation with regard to irregularities or deviations from normal activities in all areas of responsibility.
  • Remain current on all activities that threaten the security of TLC Casino Enterprises INC, Four Queens Hotel & Casino and Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel.
  • Monitor assigned areas on a continuous basis to ensure complete coverage.
  • Ensure at all times that the “Confidentiality Rules” are observed and enforced.
  • Successfully pass surveillance examinations that reflect current/actual job knowledge when administered by management as outlined in current procedures.
  • Share the responsibility of: answering telephone promptly, initiating video recording requests (table games), performing observations, making assessments on observations, completing assigned tasks and completing assigned projects.
  • Perform routine and systematic cleaning and preventative maintenance of NVR network, video monitors, video cameras, pan/tilt motors and gears, system processor and controls, system peripheral equipment along with digital recording equipment.
  • Perform repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Installs equipment as directed.
  • Assist in ordering and stocking necessary cleaning supplies and parts for existing equipment.
  • Assist in the planning, placement and installation of cameras and support equipment into new or reconfigured casino and/or security areas.
  • Respond to emergency service calls.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information on all Corporate Security and Surveillance personnel, investigations, projects and programs.
  • Troubleshoot, modify and understand large video switching systems within a casino environment.
  • Support all environments as it pertains to digital recording equipment and software.

  • Walk or stand for extensive periods of time
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Remain alert to any suspicious activity and communicates such to the Director, Senior Manager, Manager, Supervisor of Surveillance and/or other designated person.
  • Report needed repairs of Surveillance equipment to the Department technician via the e-mail or Database system for record accuracy.
  • In the event of the system(s) being down, a written request will be sent to Technician’s mailbox.
  • Maintain confidential information on all Corporate Security and Surveillance personnel, investigations, projects and programs.
  • Log all video request releases into the Database system.
  • Conduct camera check at the beginning of each shift to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Notify the Nevada Gaming Control Board when a criminal gaming offense occurs.
