THE OPPORTUNITY As the Observability Intern, you will have an opportunity to learn how logs, metrics, and traces generated by diverse systems allow us to paint a picture of how technology is running. We will take multiple datasets and create visualizations to tell a story about what is going on with each piece of software. Alerts will also be created to notify respective teams early that an issue is present. You will also gain exposure to other facets of the business outside of IT, such as finance and operations.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a B.A./B.S. degree with a focus on computer science, mathematics, and business
  • Familiarity with Windows Operating system and how logs are generated
  • Experience with Kubernetes/containerization
  • Understanding of how databases function and ability to write queries to retrieve data
  • Capability to create and solve complex mathematical story problems
  • Understanding of calculus and statistics
  • Python scripting experience

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a restaurant and interacting with POS technology is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Create visualizations and dashboards based on multiple datasets based on business consumer needs
  • Optimize queries of log data to decrease search time and improve performance
  • Create and modify alerts based on requirements defined by engineers
  • Collaborate with team members to help monitor and maintain stability in environments
  • Implement changes with guidance from Observability Engineers using sound testing procedures, capacity planning, communication, training, documentation, and impact analysis
  • Leverage log analysis tools to determine and fix issues in our production environments
  • Execute projects within the IT Project Guidelines and ensuring adherence to the project approval/prioritization process and related documentation
  • Maintain and adhere to policies and procedures for corporate, restaurant, and mobile systems as deemed necessary by IT Leadership
