About The Position

PACCAR Powertrain is seeking motivated and innovative students to join our Summer 2026 Internship Program within the On‑Board Diagnostics (OBD) Development team. Program Overview The PACCAR Summer Internship Program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within the Global Engine Team while learning about PACCAR’s world‑class truck brands—Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF. As an intern, you will: Take part in team meetings, technical reviews, and department-wide activities. Work on meaningful projects that directly contribute to PACCAR Powertrain's OBD technology. Build your professional network across engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams. Present your project accomplishments to fellow interns and senior leaders at the end of the program. Requirements

  • Third or fourth year of bachelor’s degree completed (graduation date 2026 – 2027) in one of the following STEM disciplines: Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, Computer, Mechanical), Science, or related field required.
  • Foundational understanding of mechanics of materials and fluid dynamics.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop MATLAB scripts to automate reporting for High Mileage Accumulation (HMA) test fleets.
  • Build Simulink-based simulation tools to model OBD algorithm behavior.
  • Conduct vehicle and test‑cell evaluations to validate simulation tools and diagnostic strategies.
  • Provide hands-on support for Climatic Chassis Dynamometer and Portable Chassis Dyno test activities.
  • Perform vehicle-level diagnostic testing to understand how configuration differences influence OBD performance and execution rates.
