About The Position

Position Overview: The Obstetrical Technician provides basic nursing care (personal and restorative care) and functions as a member of the surgical team by assisting and passing instruments during surgical procedures performed in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/She understands the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The OB Technician ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. He/She assists in the preparation of the room before surgery or delivery and is accountable for all items required for their surgical table, including all required instrumentation and sutures. The Obstetrical Technician preforms routine clerical duties as needed within the unit. The Obstetrical Technician performs duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
• Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
• Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
• Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
• Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
• Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
• Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
• Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
• Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
• Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
• Job requires traveling throughout the SRHS service area – with the employee providing his/her own transportation.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of Surgical Technician program preferred.
• Current Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
• A minimum of one (1) year Surgical Technologist experience preferred.
