About The Position

The OB Technician at Froedtert Hospital plays a crucial role in the obstetric department by assisting in surgical cases, including cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries. Under the supervision of registered nurses, the OB Tech is responsible for maintaining a safe and organized environment, supporting medical staff during procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position requires a blend of technical skills and effective communication with healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant Program, Surgical Technologist Program, or hold CNA or LPN certification.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology required.
  • Ability to learn surgical tools and sterile techniques.
  • Effective communication skills with nursing and physicians.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Surgical Tech or OB Tech is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub into surgical cases such as c-sections and assist during vaginal deliveries.
  • Organize and stock labor rooms, triage rooms, recovery rooms, and operating rooms.
  • Maintain equipment and perform quality control checks.
  • Assist physicians and nurses with operative and delivery room procedures.
  • Provide clerical support as needed.
  • Perform scrubbing functions for various surgical procedures including emergent hysterectomies and fetal intervention cases.
  • Attend trauma cases involving pregnant patients.
