About The Position

The OB Care Associate plays a crucial role in delivering technical patient care within the surgical environment, assisting with surgical procedures and ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations. This position involves direct interaction with patients and healthcare team members, providing education and support to meet patient needs. The OB Care Associate is responsible for maintaining surgical instruments, performing clerical duties, and adhering to safety protocols, all under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Active State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification or completion of a state-sponsored training program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • 6-12 months of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior training experience in a hospital or medical setting.
  • Experience in a surgical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform surgical scrub duties and assist in surgical procedures including C-sections and vaginal deliveries.
  • Maintain and prepare surgical instruments and supplies for procedures.
  • Assist with patient care tasks as delegated by the Registered Nurse, including vital signs and specimen collection.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort by maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Participate in unit clerical functions such as patient registration and chart maintenance.
  • Demonstrate leadership by mentoring peers and participating in staff meetings and performance improvement initiatives.
