About The Position

Excellent Opportunity to join this dynamic Labor and Delivery Unit as an OB Surgical Tech. It is a 13 bed unit with 4 overflow antepartum rooms, 2 OR suites and a new 4 bed OB-ED. We have 24/7 coverage by a Hospitalist, along with a great group of physicians. Any laboring mom or preterm mom greater than 20 weeks may be seen on this unit; along with postpartum moms needing to be readmitted. Our goal is to adhere to the AWHONN standards. We closely monitor staffing to patient census which means—1:2 laboring patients, 1:1 active labor or C-section, 1:3 antepartum patients and 1:4 triage/OB-ED. We provide patient centered care as the entire health care team work together to care for mother and baby.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• 3 years Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program OR has one–year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist OR of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting
• BLS Required

Nice To Haves

• NRP is Preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit.
• He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
• He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
• Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.
