About The Position

Assists with and provides appropriate supplies and equipment for vaginal deliveries. Performs a variety of non-nursing functions including clerical functions. Leads scrub team, training, coaching, mentoring and supporting management.

Requirements

  • Education requirements: Satisfactory completion of OR Technician course or equivalent on the job training for at least one year.
  • Work experience requirements: One year hospital experience preferred.
  • Required licenses/ certifications/courses ORT certification required within six (6) months from start date as of January 2008; obtains 15 CEU's annually. CPR certification & NRP certification

Responsibilities

  • Transcribes physician orders accurately and timely.
  • Schedules medical procedures and appointments for patients.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality, maintains patient's medical record in chronological order.
  • Enters all orders into POETS accurately and timely.
  • Enters data into Delivery Log books.
  • Utilizes all communication systems correctly (pagers, call system, phone).
  • Reports all identified and potential problems to the Charge Nurse and/or Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • Utilizes principles and techniques of operating asepsis.
  • Observes for and promptly reports breaks in sterile techniques.
  • Completes sponge, instrument, and needle counts and reports any discrepancy before skin closure begins.
  • Other duties as assigned.
