About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for a busy OB-GYN office. The position is accountable for providing competent direct patient care based on established standards and contributes to unit activities to enhance the care delivery system. The RN will support peers in delivering patient care services and may assume expanded roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities. The role involves telephone triage of patient calls, consulting with care providers, administering medications and injections, obtaining vital signs, and documenting patient histories and concerns. The nurse will also perform point of care testing, assist with office procedures, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Experience in women's health and ambulatory care preferred.
  • Ability to use electronic medical records.
  • Must be a team player and willing to be flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent direct patient care based on established standards.
  • Contribute to unit activities and support enhancement of the care delivery system.
  • Support peers in the delivery of patient care services.
  • Assume expanded roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
  • Perform telephone triage of patient phone calls and consult with care providers.
  • Administer medications and injections as ordered.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, medical, surgical and family histories, allergies, and current medications.
  • Document symptoms or concerns.
  • Perform point of care testing such as pregnancy testing, urinalysis, and catheterization as needed.
  • Assist with office procedures such as colposcopy, biopsy, and sonography.
  • Responsible for chart review and office compliance with Joint Commission regulations.
  • Schedule patient appointments and perform other general office duties as necessary.
